This is a great stop for BBQ. I recommend the meat with 2 sides. I love to get the double side of cheesy potatoes. The cost is about $10 with a drink. They do offer daily specials and all the yummy corn bread you can eat. Arrive early as the dine in area has limited seating. Good stuff.

Woody's in Des Moines right off of Cottage Grove just south of Drake is a great spot to satisfy your need for great barbecue.  I have eaten here many times and always have enjoyed the food. I am really excited about the expanded patio area(not in the picture) which now includes picnic tables to handle the summer lunch crowd.

Walking in the front door you will see the menu on the chalk board with the daily specials. The single meat and two sides is my recommendation. If you have a hard time deciding you may want to splurge and go with the two meat with two sides.  I have tried and recommend the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket.  I have tried all the sides and love the cheesy potatoes and slaw.  

While you are waiting you can help yourself to the unlimited supply of cornbread and honey. 

I chose today to go with the beef brisket, ham, cheesy potatoes, and beans.  This was the first time I have gotten the smoked ham and was concerned that it would be dry.  The ham was salty, tender, and juicy. It reminded me of the Christmas ham that I have eaten so many times at family gatherings. Stop by Woody's Smoke Shack for lunch and enjoy some good barbecue.
